Sister Patty Caraher
Near Atlanta, Georgia, Sr. Patty ministers at the International Community School. This free charter elementary school embraces student refugees from war-torn countries such as Afghanistan, Kurdistan, Iraq, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Somalia, and Myanmar (Burma). "Starting over again is what our parents have to do, and we are intimately involved in their lives," said Sr. Patty. Imagine one of our families who lost their 6- and 8-year-old sons in the panic of war in Afghanistan. Fast forward 10 years to greet them at the airport with their parents and six siblings. Dominican fire burns in our hearts as we embrace our children and families each day."
Sister Eileen Quinn
As a teacher at St. Dennis School in Madison, Sr. Eileen brings life to gospel values of generosity, peace, justice, and love of neighbor. "Along with St. Paul, pray that the children and all of us allow God's power working in us to accomplish more than we can ask or imagine," said Sr. Eileen.
Sister Kathleen Malone
For more than 20 years, Sister Kathleen has been at Edgewood Campus School in Madison, Wisconsin. She has taught all grades from one through eight and has been an administrator. Even though new technology has been a challenge through the years, it is one that she welcomes as she continues to make the teaching/learning experience exciting for students. “I have been given much, but what I have received has been immeasurably more,” said Sister Kathleen.
Sister Carolyn Croft
In the fall of 2001, Sister Carolyn opened the Center for Children’s Consultation. Here, she empowers children with the tools they need academically, socially, and emotionally. Assessment, advocacy, acceptance, and achievement are key. “Helping students reach their potential for learning continues to be my main goal,” said Sister Carolyn. As a special education consultant, she talks to parent groups and provides in-service teacher education on special education issues. She is also an adjunct faculty member of Dominican University, teaching in the Graduate School of Education.
Sister Debbie Bomyea
