Elementary Teaching

Sr. Patty CaraherSister Patty Caraher
Near Atlanta, Georgia, Sr. Patty ministers at the International Community School. This free charter elementary school embraces student refugees from war-torn countries such as Afghanistan, Kurdistan, Iraq, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Somalia, and Myanmar (Burma). "Starting over again is what our parents have to do, and we are intimately involved in their lives," said Sr. Patty. Imagine one of our families who lost their 6- and 8-year-old sons in the panic of war in Afghanistan. Fast forward 10 years to greet them at the airport with their parents and six siblings. Dominican fire burns in our hearts as we embrace our children and families each day."

"Along with St. Paul, pray that the children and all of us allow God's power working in us to accomplish more than we can ask or imagine," said Sr. Eileen.
