Meet Our Associates

Associate Cathy Crosby and the Dominican Family

by Associate Annette J. Clemens

Associate Cathy CrosbyCathy Crosby first encountered Dominican spirituality at the early age of 13 but not from the Dominicans of Sinsinawa. Her future mother-in-law, her twin sister, and five of their friends had entered the Dominican community of Sparkill, New York. Cathy’s mother-in-law obviously did not take final vows, but the others professed and formed the loving Dominican family Cathy knew while attending Albertus Magnus High School in Bardonia, New York. Sometime after settling in Atlanta, Georgia, Cathy had the opportunity to get to know Sisters Nora Ryan, Liz Sully, Marie Sullivan, and Patty Caraher due to their innovative ministries in peace education and caring for those living in poverty and with AIDS. Cathy’s love of the four pillars of Dominican life fuel her own ministry in her work as a spiritual director and retreat leader. Cathy is also active with the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging and Pax Christi USA.

Cathy became an Associate two years ago and considers being part of the community a blessing. If you have the chance to get to know Cathy, I’m sure you’ll agree that we are also blessed to be able to call her “family.”
