Meet Our Associates

From Religious to Associate: Germaine Goetz-Sota

by Germaine Goetz-Sota

Associate Germaine Goetz-Sota I am a former Sinsinawa Dominican (1956–1988), and I have been teaching at Dominican University since 1973. I am also presently the Chair of Theatre Arts and Music and former Chair of Rhetoric and Communications. In 1980, I earned a Ph.D. in Theatre from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, and I have Masters’ degrees in Communication Arts and American and British Literature from Marquette University.

At Dominican University, I teach courses in three disciplines: freshman and sophomore liberal arts and sciences seminars; dramaturgy; multicultural theatre and solo performance; public speaking; and voice/diction training.

I have been an Associate since 1995, and made my lifetime commitment Oct. 24 at Sinsinawa Mound. My ministry at Dominican provides many opportunities to teach and preach the Gospel and to pursue veritas and caritas both in and outside the classroom. My favorite activity each semester is sharing a scripture reflection at the Sisters’ 5 p.m. Mass in the old Rosary chapel. To reflect on God’s words in such a sacred space is a gift and a privilege.
