St. Augustine Restoration Project

Left, St. Augustine stands proudly as Father Samuel Mazzuchelli
built it in
1844 before the restoration work began. Right, St. Augustine
after the restoration in 2007.
In 2006, restoration work began on St. Augustine Church, New Diggings, WI. Built by Sinsinawa Dominican founder Father Samuel Mazzuchelli in 1844, this structure has withstood the test of time and is his only church that remains as he originally designed it. The Knights of Columbus raised funds for this project, and with a matching grant from the Jeffris Family Foundation, have nearly completed the restoration work.
From May 31 to Sept. 31, St. Augustine’s is open on Sundays from 1–4 p.m. or by appointment by calling George Burns at (608) 965-4517.
