25 Years

A Mass will be held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Mound on Sunday, July 20, for the four Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters celebrating 25 years. Click here to honor one of our jubilarians.

 

Sister Deborah Bomyea, OPSister Deborah Bomyea, OP
Sr. Deb's home parish is St. Bernard in the Ogdensburg Diocese. She is the daughter of the late Richard Bomyea and the late Shirley (Baker) Barton and the stepdaughter of Richard Barton. Sr. Deb's ministry has been dedicated to teaching. She has ministered in Wisconsin, Vermont, Illinois, Oklahoma and South Dakota. Sr. Deb is currently teaching at Kearney Catholic School, Kearney, Neb.

Sister Kathleen Flood, OPSister Kathleen Flood, OP
Sr. Kathleen's ministry has been dedicated to chaplaincy and spiritual center administration. She has ministered in Illinois and Tennessee. Sr. Kathleen is currently ministering as the administrator for Stillpoint, Inc., a spirituality center in Nashville, TN.

 

Sister Roberta Popara, OPSister Roberta Popara, OP
Sister Roberta, an only child, was born and raised in California. Living in Illinois since the late sixties, she worked for two corporations before entering the Congregation. She has ministered in the Chicago area for 19 years, including working in pastoral ministry for Visitation Parish and Holy Name Cathedral. Currently she is at Our Lady of Florida Spiritual Center, a ministry of the Passionists Priests and Brothers, where she leads retreats and is a spiritual director. She serves on committees for the Congregation, including the Preaching Task Force and Anti-racism Training Team as well as working with the North American Dominican Coordinating Committee on Iraq and the Middle East. Locally, she co-chairs an interfaith clergy organization.

Sister Margaret "Peggy" Ryan, OPSister Margaret "Peggy" Ryan, OP
Sr. Peggy's home parish is St. Luke, River Forest, in the Chicago Archdiocese. She is the daughter of the late Charles and the late Elizabeth (Barton) Ryan. Sr. Peggy's ministry has been dedicated to social promotion with Guarani Indians. In the Chicago Archdiocese, Sr. Peggy served as the campus minister at Rosary College (now Dominican University), River Forest, 1990–1991. In the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Sr. Peggy ministered as a social worker at La Mision Catolica, the Catholic Mission, Atlanta, 1993-1995 and 1999-2003. In the Diocese of Madison, Sr. Peggy was the codirector of the Apostolic Volunteer Program for the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation, Sinsinawa, 1995-1999. She has also ministered in Texas, Alabama, California, Georgia and Bolivia. Sr. Peggy is currently ministering as a missionary in Bolivia.
