Sr. Miguel Hearty, OP
Sr. Miguel's home parish is St. John, South Milwaukee, in the Milwaukee Archdiocese. She is the daughter of the late Michael and the late Margaret (Aloysius) Hearty. Sr. Miguel's ministry has been dedicated to education, including teaching, administration and consulting. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, Sr. Miguel taught at St. Sabina, Chicago, 1933-1935; St. Giles, Oak Park, 1941-1955, and was principal there 1955-1961; and taught and was coprincipal St. Basil, Chicago, 1978-1979. She taught in the Education Department at Rosary College (now Dominican University), River Forest, 1989-2003. In the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Sr. Miguel taught at Incarnation, Minneapolis, 1961-1962. In the Diocese of Madison, Sr. Miguel ministered as principal at Edgewood Campus School, Madison, 1962-1964; taught at Edgewood High School and Edgewood College, both Madison, 1964-1970; and served as an education consultant for the Sinsinawa Dominican Southeast Province, 1970-1971 and 1972-1976. In the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., Sr. Miguel was the principal at Sacred Heart, Washington, D.C., 1971-1972. In the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Sr. Miguel was principal at St. Clement, Sheboygan, 1976-1978. In the diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee, Sr. Miguel founded and served as the director of the Catholic preschool, Apalachicola, 1985-1989. Sr. Miguel is living in community at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa.
Sr. Mary Nona McGreal, OP
Sr. Mary Nona is the daughter of the late Thomas and the late Margaret (Kehoe) McGreal. Her ministry has been dedicated to education and the disseminating of the history of the Dominican Order in the United States and Venerable Samuel Mazzuchelli, OP, the founder of the Sinsinawa Dominicans. In the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Sr. Mary Nona taught at St. Clement, Sheboygan, 1933. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, Sr. Mary Nona taught at St. Brendan, Chicago, 1933-1937, and St. Thomas the Apostle, Chicago, 1937-1941. From 1984 to 2007, she worked with Project OPUS (a history of the Dominican Order in the United States) based at Dominican University, River Forest. Sr. Mary Nona served as the director from 1989 to 2006 and was honored in 2006 with the new River Forest home of Project OPUS being named the McGreal Center. In the Diocese of Madison, Sr. Mary Nona ministered as the president of Edgewood College, Madison, 1950-1968. She served the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation as Vicaress General, 1967-1977, and prepared and presented the Positio for the Cause of Fr. Samuel Mazzuchelli, 1977-1984, both in Rome, Italy, and the United States. Sr. Mary Nona has authored several books. Among her many titles are Guiding Growth in Christian Social Living: A Curriculum for the Catholic School, three volumes; Journeyman, Preacher, Pastor, Teacher Samuel Mazzuchelli: American Dominican; and Dominicans at Home in a Young Nation: 1776-1865: Volume I of The Order of Preachers in the United States: A Family History. She has also ministered in Washington, D.C. Sr. Mary Nona is living in community at St. Dominic Villa, Sinsinawa.
Sr. Hermana Oppreicht, OP
Sr. Hermana's home parish is St. Patrick in the La Crosse Diocese. She is the daughter of the late Herman and the late Mayme (McNamara) Oppreicht. Sr. Hermana's ministry has been dedicated to teaching and pastoral care. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, Sr. Hermana taught at St. Luke, River Forest, 1934-1940, and Trinity, River Forest, 1950-1956. In the Diocese of Madison, Sr. Hermana taught at St. Patrick, Madison, 1940-1943; Blessed Sacrament, Madison, 1943-1946; Edgewood Campus School, Madison, 1946-1950; Edgewood High School, Madison, 1956-1958; and St. Clara Academy, Sinsinawa, 1959-1960. In the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Sr. Hermana taught at Regina High School, Minneapolis, 1965-1974. She ministered as a pastoral associate at Incarnation Parish, Minneapolis, 1974-1997. Sr. Hermana is living in community at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa.
Sr. Helen Spellecy, OP (Justine)
Sr. Helen is the daughter of the late Thomas and the late Elizabeth (McManus) Spellecy. Her ministry has been dedicated to education, both teaching and administration. She has ministered in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, and Nebraska. Sr. Helen is living in community at St. Dominic Villa, Sinsinawa.
