“Come, Holy Spirit, Light the Fire of Your Love in Us.”
Dominic’s torch of truth has been burning brightly for 800 years through each follower of Dominic. We Sinsinawa Dominicans are about study and preaching the truth. For the Mission Integration Office, our hope is that the Gospel comes alive through our reaching out to our sponsored institutions, other Dominican congregations, and all of God’s people. Our aim is to assist our sponsored institutions to integrate mission into everything they do.
Highlights of this past year
- Potential Sister Trustees: A weekend in June 2007 brought 24 Sinsinawa Sisters together to discuss the evolution of sponsorship, the relevance of mission, and Sister trustee/liaison responsibilities, and to look at the possibility of serving as board members for our sponsored institutions. Current board members, corporate liaisons, corporation members, potential Sister trustees, and the Mission Integration Office gathered for this workshop.
- Gathering of School Presidents: Presidents from Dominican High School (Maureen Schuerman), Edgewood High School (Judd Schemmel), Queen of Peace High School (Dr. Kathleen Hanlon), Trinity High School (Michelle Germanson, OP), and Mary Howard Johnstone, OP, met with the Mission Integration Office. Each president discussed exciting events happening at her/his school along with the many challenges that must be faced. Carrying forth the mission was a main topic.
- Corporate Liaisons: For the past two years, corporate liaisons have served as ex-officio, non-voting members of their respective boards and executive committees. Their principal role is to maintain a good relationship and open communication with the board chair, chief administrator, and corporation member, and to represent the Sinsinawa Dominicans at significant school functions.
- Barbara Dannhausen conducted workshops on
• The Evolution of Sponsorship and Mission Integration for Sister Trustees of the Dominican Alliance Institutions in Columbus, Ohio; and
• Mission Integration for Directors of Sponsorship in San Antonio, TX. Barbara continues to serve as a consultant to the Dominican Association of Secondary Schools (DASS) by developing/facilitating the High School Retreat Program and developing materials for mission integration and assessment. - Major Changes in School Personnel: Kathleen Hanlon, PhD, remained in her role as head administrator of Queen of Peace High School. We are grateful for her expertise in serving in our sponsored institutions
