The Communication Office has been expanding our presence on the World Wide Web. As social networking sites on the Internet grow and reach out to multiple generations and cultures, the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation can benefit by forming and building relationships through the avenues described in this article. Please visit these sites and suggest to your friends and families that they visit these sites as a way to stay connected with the Sinsinawa Dominicans.
USTREAM
For some time, the Congregation has been using UStream for live streaming wakes, funerals, and chats to the Internet so that more of you can be “present” to what is taking place at Sinsinawa Mound. The site allows our Computer Department to pull what is being broadcast on our motherhouse channels and stream it to the Internet. If you would like to view our UStream page, visit www.ustream.tv/sinsinawa on the web.
YOUTUBE
There are three Sinsinawa Dominican videos posted to YouTube, which is a web site created for posting videos that you would like to share with the world. The Congregation also has its own YouTube channel. To visit our YouTube channel and view the videos, enter the following link into your browser’s address line and then click on the video you wish to view: www.youtube.com/user/SinsinawaDominicans.
The three videos that are posted are “Welcome to the Mound,” “Can You Imagine,” and “Contemplating the Mystery of God.”
FACEBOOK
There is a Facebook page for the Sinsinawa Dominicans. Facebook is a social networking site on the web that can be found at www.facebook.com. You have to create a Facebook account to view the congregation Facebook page. Some people who have connections with the Sinsinawa Dominicans have signed on to view our page as “fans” of the Congregation. If you have a Facebook account, type in “Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters” to the “Search” box, and the name should display in the results. There, click on the “Become a Fan” text and view our page.
TWITTER
The Sinsinawa Dominicans have started to build a social network through www.twitter.com. Twitter is a messaging service that allows a person or organization to update others quickly about recent news. The Congregation is slowly building a base of “followers,” and we have posted two updates. This is called “tweeting.” You will need a Twitter account to view the Sinsinawa Dominicans’ Twitter homepage. You can “find” our home page by typing “Sinsinawa Dominicans” into the Twitter search feature once you are logged on. Soon, we hope to post links to all of these sites on www.sinsinawa.org so that those who want to be connected with us easily can be with the click of a mouse.
