Sr. Judy Joins Archives Staff

Sr. Judy Miller
by Eileen Dushek-Manthe
Judy Miller, OP, is now part of the Archives staff and works with the Mazzuchelli collection. Judy will manage correspondences, the Mazzuchelli Tracing a Journey exhibit, and other Mazzuchelli-based information. She will gradually move into giving exhibit tours.
Judy’s excitement about her new position is tangible. She wonders aloud how a first-grade teacher who survived a deathly illness and changed career paths could end up in such a position. She remembers being at the Mound when the Positio was begun and later reading Medicine for Wildcat to her first graders. Judy worked as an assistant with Mary Nona McGreal, OP, for seven years as Mary Nona researched and wrote books about Fr. Mazzuchelli and the Dominican Order in the United States. She is well versed on all things Mazzuchelli. In the Archives, she said, “The focus is totally on Mazzuchelli. It’s like a treasure hunt that we’re always on.” She gains energy from informing people about Fr. Mazzuchelli. She said, “You feel like you’re the cheerleader.”
Judy began the position at the end of January 2008. She replaces Christiane Althaus, OP, who has been working with the collection for 13 years. Christiane will continue to give the majority of the exhibit tours, pray with Fr. Mazzuchelli’s penance chain, and oversee the Novenas prayed for the Cause.
