Ivy for Alzheimer’s

Sr. Bernita Hessling (pictured) blessed the wall adjacent to the kitchen where the actual ivy plants will grow behind the convent building.

This spring, Sisters, staff, and guests at Sinsinawa Mound made a $350 donation to the Alzheimer’s Association of Dubuque, IA, and at the same time raised $350 for ivy plants that will beautify the Mound grounds for years to come. The Sinsinawa Mound Mission Integration Committee offered a paper ivy plant on which a loved one’s name was written for those who contributed to the project. The paper ivy was hung outside the Gathering Place. On May 7, a dedication for the ivy plants and prayer service for loved ones being honored was held, and Sr. Bernita Hessling (pictured) blessed the wall adjacent to the kitchen where the actual ivy plants will grow behind the convent building.
