Sr. Mary’s School Awarded Blue Ribbon

Assistant Principal Mary Houlihan, OP (left), and Principal Noreen Duffy Copeland recently accepted the U.S. Department of Education’s 2009 No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon Award for Excellence in Education on behalf of their school, Holy Ghost Elementary/Middle Catholic School in Albuquerque, NM. Holy Ghost is one of 50 private/parochial schools and 264 public schools in the nation to be honored with this prestigious award. Holy Ghost’s 8th graders’ scores in reading and math were in the top 10 percent of the nation on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. Noreen is a proud graduate of St. Sabina Grade School and Queen of Peace High School in the Chicago area. Mary and Noreen traveled to Washington, DC, to participate in the award ceremony.
