Book Signing at Gallery
Author Andrew Carl Wisdom, OP, was on hand at Sinsinawa Book & Gift Gallery Nov. 24 to sign copies of his book titled Advent and Christmas: Wisdom from St. Thomas Aquinas. The 128-page book features selections from St. Thomas Aquinas’ writings and Scripture to guide the reader in daily meditation and prayer. Each day’s selection ends with a suggested action to help the reader put the spiritual direction of St. Thomas into practice throughout the season of Advent. To order the book, e-mail gallery@sinsinawa.org.

’64 Building Progress
Work continues on building a stairwell at the end of the east wing of the ’64 building at Sinsinawa Mound. Since October, Kramer Brothers, LLC, Plain, WI, has worked on deconstructing the east wing and is in the process of putting the finishing touches on the project.

Mask Messenger Performance a Crowd Pleaser
The Sinsinawa Dominican Office of Arts and Cultural Heritage received a grant from Alliant Energy to bring a multicultural arts program to the children of Grant County, WI. With the funds, Priscilla Wood, OP, organized a showing of The Mask Messenger at Sinsinawa Mound. A production by Faustwork Mask Theatre, Canada, the show was a mix of monologue, theatre, and physical comedy that cut to the heart of human matters and left audiences laughing and crying. The performances included silent masks that spoke volumes in body language and exotic masks worn on top of the head. Audiences saw quick-change artistry and physical distortions that baffled the eye and boggled the brain. Almost 1,000 children grades K–8 attended the free October performances. They came from three public schools and 11 parochial schools. “Most of these schools are small with little or no opportunity to provide an in-school experience of performing arts,” said Priscilla. “By making our facility available, everyone could attend. Alliant helped us give these children who would otherwise have no such experience a day to remember.”
