From left, Srs. Marita Bartholome, CHM (Davenport), and Vivian Gorman, OP (Sinsinawa), visited with one another at the Intercongregational Day. They are second cousins who had not seen each other since they were in 7th grade.
Sinsinawa Mound hosted the Intercongregational Day Oct. 7, 2009. Two hundred seventy Sisters from 12 Midwest congregations gathered to share friendship and a day of reflection.Ann Willits, OP (Sinsinawa), was the featured speaker.
Ann spoke on the topics of “The Meaning of Memory,” “The Peace of Understanding,” and “The Joy of Being Home.” Her talks can be viewed on a computer with a high-speed Internet connection at www.ustream.tv/sinsinawa.
Sisters enjoyed connecting with each other. This year, Vivian Gorman, OP (Sinsinawa), and Marita Bartholome, CHM (Davenport), reconnected in person for the first time since they were in 7th grade. Their mothers were first cousins and kept in contact during their lives through Christmas letters. Since both Vivian and Marita entered religious life 66 years ago, they have also kept in contact through Christmas letters. One week before the Intercongregational Day, Marita moved from her longtime home in Montana to the CHM Motherhouse in Davenport. Vivian and Marita were thrilled to see each other again.
