On the Cover
Patricia Ann Miller, OP, took part in the Celebration of Remembering at the Dominican Sisters’ Cemetery in Kettle Falls, WA, on Oct. 8. The Sinsinawa Dominican leadership team was also in attendance along with other Sisters from the Congregation. Each of the 20 Sisters buried there was remembered with a brief biography, and then a rose was placed on her headstone that will be moved to Spokane. They will be reburied next to the newly created Holy Cross Cemetery Memorial Plaza honoring women religious who have made a lasting impact in the Northwest. The Maryknoll Centennial Symposium on “Church in Mission: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow” was held at Catholic Theological Union, Chicago, in October to celebrate 100 years of Maryknoll and to explore with past and present foreign missionaries some “New Perspectives of Faith from Asia, Africa, and Latin America.” Read more . . .

Spokane: ‘Having Opened Our Hearts to This Profound Time of Grace’
In early October, all six of us on the General Council had the privilege of traveling to Spokane and being with our Sisters living and ministering in the Intermountain Region. We were welcomed at the airport with hugs and a vehicle to use during our stay. Our tired bodies were warmed and nourished by homemade chili, corn bread, and attentive conversations. Read more . . .

Sister Ellie Brings Eucharist to Life
Ellie Hoffmann, OP, wants children preparing to receive the Eucharist for the first time to know two things: God loves them very much, and God will always forgive them. At the First Communion Retreat she has been leading for at least 20 years, Ellie brings the children together with their teachers, and sometimes parents or grandparents, to help them realize how important Eucharist is in their lives. A Jubilee: Ministry in the Neighborhood
The Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa, WI, have based our model for ministry in the Archdiocese of Dubuque on our founder, the Rev. Samuel Charles Mazzuchelli, OP, who served as vicar to Bishop Loras. A Celebration of Remembering
Dominican Sisters’ Cemetery, Kettle Falls, WA
Singing these heartfelt words, 20 Sinsinawa Dominicans began a ritual of remembering the 20 Dominican Sisters buried at the cemetery of the former Kettle Falls Dominican provincialate, Our Lady of the Valley Convent, now My Parents Estate. They were joined by the owners, Bev and Al Parent, and people from the area who knew the Sisters or had a connection with them. Read more . . .

14 Dominican Volunteers Begin Year of Service
From Aug. 4 to 10, 14 new Dominican Volunteers USA (DVUSA) traveled from all over the United States to Ossining, NY, for their orientation to the Dominican Family and a year of faith-based service. Read more . . .

Young Dominican Women Gather in California
The first weekend in October, a group of approximately 40 Dominican women under the age of 45 met at Mission San Jose Motherhouse in California to explore the theme “Walking Together with Realism, Daring, and Hope.” Read more . . .
