Jubilarians: 50 Years

Celebrating 50 Years of Religious Life

 

The following 13 Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters will celebrate their 50th jubilee at a Mass in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Mound on Sunday, July 14, 2013.

 

Sister Eileen Brynda, OPSister Eileen Brynda, OP, has ministered in Illinois, Wisconsin, New York, and Iowa. Her religious name was Sr. Jozef. Sr. Eileen's ministry has been dedicated to teaching, administration and pastoral ministry. In the Diocese of Peoria, Sister Eileen taught at St. Mark, Peoria, 1963-1968, and served as principal at Visitation, Kewanee, 1973-1977. In the Diocese of Madison, Sr. Eileen taught at St. Jerome, Columbus, 1968-1969; Sacred Heart, Reedsburg, 1978-1979; and St. John Vianney, Janesville, 1981-1982, where she also served as principal, 1982-1987. She ministered as pastoral associate at St. Victor Parish, Monroe, 2000-2002. In the Archdiocese of New York, Sr. Eileen taught at Corpus Christi, New York, 1969-1973. In the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Sr. Eileen served as a substitute teacher at Dominican, Whitefish Bay, 1977; in adult faith formation at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Milwaukee, 2002-2004; and as vicaress provincial for the Sinsinawa Dominican Western Province, Cudahy, 2004-2006. She has served as pastoral associate at St. Kilian Parish, Hartford, since 2006. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, Sr. Eileen taught at St. Richard, Chicago, 1979-1981. In the Archdiocese of Dubuque, Sr. Eileen ministered as pastoral associate at Resurrection Parish, Dubuque, 1989-2000. Sr. Eileen’s home parish is Visitation, Chicago, in the Chicago Archdiocese. Sister Maureen Croak, OPSister Maureen Croak, OP, has ministered in Minnesota, Montana, Illinois, and Massachusetts. Her religious name was Sr. Martine. Sr. Maureen's ministry has been dedicated to teaching. She is currently ministering in adult education. Sr. Maureen’s home parish is in Madison, WI, in the Madison Diocese. Sister Mary Ellen Gevelinger, OPSister Mary Ellen Gevelinger, OP, has ministered in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Her religious name was Sr. Marie Alphonse. Sr. Mary Ellen's ministry has been dedicated to education. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, Sr. Mary Ellen taught at Queen of Peace, Burbank, 1965-1969, and Trinity, River Forest, 1973-1974. She ministered as dean of students at St. Thomas the Apostle, Chicago, 1978-1980, and Unity Catholic, Chicago, 1980-1982, and as executive assistant to the president at Rosary College (now Dominican University), River Forest, 1991-1994. In the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Sr. Mary Ellen taught at Bethlehem Academy, Faribault, 1974-1978, and served as principal at Regina, Minneapolis, 1982-1987, and ministered as director of personnel and planning for the Archdiocesan Office of Catholic Schools, 1994-2000. In the Diocese of Madison, Sr. Mary Ellen served as professor at Edgewood College, Madison, 2007-2011. She has ministered as the prioress of the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation since 2011. Sr. Mary Ellen’s home parish is St. Mary, Mineral Point, Wis., in the Madison Diocese. She is the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Bradley) Gevelinger. Sister Charlotte Gould, OPSister Charlotte Gould, OP, has ministered in New York, Illinois, Idaho, Michigan, and Florida. Her religious name was Sr. Marie Angela. Sr. Charlotte's ministry has been dedicated to teaching. In the Archdiocese of New York, Sr. Charlotte taught at Our Lady of Mercy, Bronx, 1964-1971. In the Diocese of Peoria, Sr. Charlotte taught at St. Thomas, Peoria, 1971-1972. In the Diocese of Venice, Sr. Charlotte served as codirector of the reading program at African Caribbean American Catholic Center (AFCAAM), Fort Myers, 2003-2008, and taught and was a staff member at St. Andrew, Cape Coral, 2008-2012. She is currently ministering as an adult literacy teacher in Fort Myers. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, Sr. Charlotte taught at Immaculate Conception, Chicago, 1972-1980; Epiphany, Chicago, 1980-1983; and Most Holy Redeemer, Evergreen Park, 1993-2001. She served as pastoral associate at St. Basil/Visitation Parish, Chicago, 1988-1993. Sr. Charlotte’s home parish is St. Patrick, Merna, in the Peoria Diocese. Sister Martin Mary Joseph, OPSister Martin Mary Joseph, OP, has ministered in Trinidad and Tobago. Her ministry has been dedicated to parish ministry. Sister Geraldine Kline, OPSister Geraldine Kline, OP, has ministered in Texas, Minnesota, and Wisconsin as well as Cochabamba, Bolivia. Her religious name was Sr. Marion. Sr. Geri's ministry has been dedicated to education and individual and family therapy. In the Diocese of Dallas, Sr. Geri served at Bishop Lynch, Dallas, as teacher, 1963-1967, and as principal, 1971-1976. In the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Sr. Geri taught at Regina, Minneapolis, 1967-1971. In the Diocese of Madison, Sr. Geri served in congregation leadership as a vicaress provincial, 1976-1980 and 2004-2006, and ministered as initial formation director, 1978-1983. Sr. Geri served as a missionary in the Archdiocese of Cochabamba, Bolivia, 1984-1994. Sr. Geri has ministered as a counselor in San Antonio since 1998. Sr. Geri’s home parish is Immaculate Conception (now Divine Mercy), Faribault, in the St. Paul and Minneapolis Archdiocese. She is the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Reichert) Kline. Sister Kathleen Loughrin, OPSister Kathleen Loughrin, OP, has ministered in Wisconsin. Her religious name was Sr. Janetta. Sr. Kathleen's ministry has been dedicated to elementary education and administration. In the Diocese of Madison, Sr. Kathleen taught at Blessed Sacrament, Madison, 1965-1977, and served as principal at Sacred Heart, Reedsburg, 1977-1987, and St. John Vianney, Janesville, 1987-1990. She has ministered at St. James School, Madison, since 1990, serving as teacher, 1990-1993, and as principal since 1993. Sr. Kathleen’s home parish is Most Precious Blood, New London, in the Green Bay Diocese. She is the daughter of the late William and Genevieve (Leahy) Loughrin. Sister Mary Margaret Murphy, OPSister Mary Margaret Murphy, OP, has ministered in Illinois, South Dakota, Iowa, Texas, Nebraska, and Minnesota. Her religious name was Sr. Marie Antoine. Sr. Mary Margaret's ministry has been dedicated to teaching and educational administration. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, Sr. Mary Margaret taught at Queen of Peace, Burbank, 1965-1972 and 1975-1976, and served as principal at Trinity, River Forest, 1986-1992. In the Diocese of Sioux Falls, Sr. Mary Margaret taught at O’Gorman High, Sioux Falls, 1973-1975. In the Archdiocese of Omaha, Sr. Mary Margaret taught at Assumption, Omaha, 1993-1994, and served the archdiocese as assistant superintendent of Catholic schools, 1994-2001, and as support staff in the Office of Worship, 2001-2002. In the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Sr. Mary Margaret served as principal at Most Holy Redeemer, Montgomery, 2002-2010, and has ministered as administrative assistant at Bethlehem Academy, Faribault, since 2010. Sr. Margaret's ministry has been dedicated to teaching and educational administration. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, Sr. Margaret taught at St. Sabina, Chicago, 1963­-1970. In the Diocese of Madison, Sr. Margaret taught at St. Mary, Portage, 1970-1972; served as principal at St. John Vianney, Janesville, 1975-1982; and ministered as professor at Edgewood College, Madison, 1988-2009. In the Diocese of Milwaukee, Sr. Margaret taught at Holy Family, Whitefish Bay, 1972-1975. In the Diocese of Peoria, Sr. Margaret served as principal at St. Patrick, Ottawa, 1982-1984. She is currently serving as administrative assistant in the School of Education at Edgewood College, Madison. Sr. Margaret’s home parish is Holy Mother of Consolation, Oregon, in the Madison Diocese. Sister Mary Rathert, OPSister Mary Rathert, OP, has ministered in Nebraska, Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida, West Virginia, Virginia, and Washington. Her religious name was Sr. Marie Alfred. Sr. Mary's ministry has been dedicated to teaching, pastoral ministry and social service work. In the Diocese of Spokane, Sr. Mary ministered at Women’s Hearth, Spokane, 1998-2010, and served as program director 2000-2010. Sr. Mary is currently ministering as a member of the leadership team of the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation. Sr. Mary’s home parish is St. Bernard, Madison, in the Madison Diocese. Sister Marie Charlotte Schneider, OPSister Marie Charlotte Schneider, OP, has ministered in Illinois and Wisconsin. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, Sr. Marie Charlotte taught at Visitation Grade, Chicago, 1964-1969; St. Thomas More, Chicago, 1969-1973; St. Louis de Montfort, Oak Lawn, 1973-1974; St. Martin de Porres, Waukegan, 2004-2005; and St. Edmund, Oak Park, 2005-2011. In the Diocese of Madison, Sr. Marie Charlotte taught at St. Mary, Portage, 1974-1980, and St. Joseph, Baraboo, 1980-1984. In the Diocese of Peoria, Sr. Marie Charlotte taught at St. Mark, Peoria, 1984-1986; Visitation, Kewanee, 1986-1988; and St. Clare/Holy Trinity, Bloomington, 1988-2003. Sr. Marie Charlotte is currently ministering as a family caregiver at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa. Sr. Marie Charlotte’s home parish is St. Thomas, Peoria, in the Peoria Diocese. Sister Cecilia's ministry has been dedicated to teaching. In the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, Sister Cecilia taught at Regina, Minneapolis, 1966-1972. In the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Sister Cecilia taught at Dominican, Whitefish Bay, 1972-1982. In the Diocese of Dallas, Sister Cecilia has been teaching at Bishop Lynch High School, Dallas, since 1982 and at Eastfield College, Mesquite, since 1989. Sister Cecilia’s home parish is St. Giles, Oak Park, in the Chicago Archdiocese. She is the daughter of Elizabeth “Elsie” (Stefan) Sehr and the late William Sehr.
