"Watercolor, Ink & Inspiration"
Featured artists: Jean Apgar, Rockford, IL &
Jill Rae Martin-Golden, Roscoe, IL

Apgar works primarily in watercolor and her inspiration comes from the small, even insignificant, things that surround us in everyday life. She creates from pigment, paper, fabric, or glassΓÇöborn of the earth and crafted by hand and heart into images and objects that share a vision or evoke an emotion or response. The sharing is the essence of the image or object. Communication. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Martin-Golden discovered alcohol inks while looking for ways to make her traditional watercolor paintings more vibrant. She states, "They are very similar to watercolors but use rubbing alcohol as their medium." Her paintings reflect her love of gardening and traveling. She revels in capturing shapes, color combinations, and the beauty in the ordinary. "My art becomes a picture diary of the days of my life. I see wonder all around me."
