August 3 10:00 am - September 29 5:00 pm
Sinsinawa Art Gallery will host “Studium: Edgewood College Art Department Faculty Exhibition” Aug. 3 through Sept. 29. A reception will be held Sunday, Sept. 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. Ten faculty members of Edgewood College Art Department, Madison, Wis., will be displaying their works of mixed media. Artists include David Wells; Robert Tarrell; David Smith; Melanie Herzog; Carrie Firman; Renee Gouaux; Sister Isabel Rafferty, OP; Jane Fasse; Robert Possehl; and Molly Tomony, Kellie Murphy and Shad Wenzlaff. Smith creates wood fired vessels and sculpture. He said, “For decades I have created ceramic art that reflects East Asian methods and aesthetics while maintaining a sensibility that is undeniably Western. I have always been intrigued by this cross-fertilization.” Firman’s art will show distinctive creations. “I explore my visualization of sound, emotion, and concepts, which happens consistently and automatically in my mind’s eye.” Other works will include paintings, drawings, and multimedia and digital art. Edgewood College is a sponsored institution of the Sinsinawa Dominicans.
