Sinsinawa Mound is sponsoring a two-day summer camp designed to connect children with the living world and cultivate a sense of deep respect and wonder for one another and the Earth. We’ll play games and explore; we’ll sneak and crawl; we’ll take on animal forms and track who else has been spending time in the forests and gardens of Sinsinawa Mound. We’ll sit. We’ll notice. We’ll sing and share gratitude.

Participants should be ready to learn about themselves and nature, get some exercise, and have lots of fun!

This camp is open to 7-11 year olds. Please bring your own lunch and snack. We will spend the entirety of both days outdoors. Space is limited to 10 children.

Thursday and Friday, August 3 & 4, 2023. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Facilitator: Justin Novotney is a mentor with Wild Harvest Nature Connection in Dane County. He’s a dad to 3 boys, spouse, and caretaker of chickens. He grew up in Illinois working summer jobs mowing lawns, hauling dirt, pulling tassels in corn fields, and working on survey crews. These experiences outside, in all kinds of weather, in the smells of morning dew, and stumbling upon wildlife are memories that are reawakened around Wisconsin’s lakes, fields, forests, and the Ice Age Trail.
