Help for Those Caring for a Loved One with Dementia
The Rev. Dr. Jade Angelica will guide caregivers of those living with dementia and Alzheimer’s through a free two-day workshop at Sinsinawa Mound on Wednesday, May 1, and Thursday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. Participants will learn and practice the recommended communication techniques for meeting persons with dementia in their reality by engaging in exercises drawn from improvisational theatre, creative drama, and mindfulness meditation. This workshop is designed to deepen caregivers’ awareness of the value of individuals living with Alzheimer’s or dementia; increase caregivers’ understanding and acceptance of the limits and needs of their loved ones living with dementia; help caregivers enhance their skills for providing quality, therapeutic care; and reduce caregiver stress.
The registration deadline is April 24. Space is limited. For more information, contact Guest Services at 608-748-4411 or visit www.sinsinawa.org/moundcenter.
