Dominican VolunteersUSA Need Your Help!

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, we regret to announce that our annual, in-person event, Caritas & Veritas: Continuing the Journey has been cancelled. However, keep your calendars marked for Saturday, April 25! We plan to host the program portion of the event online and would love for you to join in learning more about our work, the women who have formed us, and this year’s Sister Marcella Connolly Award recipient, MaDonna Thelen. Also, Volunteer Appreciation Week is April 19–25 and we plan to celebrate the last 20 years of volunteers! We will share more details through Facebook, Instagram, and email so be on the lookout!

Since this event makes up 10% of our budget revenue for this fiscal year, we are calling on each of you to consider making a critical donation to DVUSA at this time. If you were interested in attending the event, we would ask that you kindly consider gifting DVUSA $55 for, what would have been, the cost of a ticket. Any amount you can contribute would be greatly appreciated! Click on the following link to make a donation: https://dvusa.org/donate-now/

For every $10 donated, you will be entered into our annual raffle and will have a chance at winning a $500 gift card to the business of your choice or a second prize of $100 to a local restaurant of your choice.

In closing, we are all very anxious and concerned about the implications of what is happening in our world, especially the impacts on our neighbors most marginalized. During times of crisis the late Fred Rogers wisely told us to “look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” When this has passed and we go back to life in a new normal, we know that the work of our volunteers will be as important as ever, feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, visiting the sick and elderly, caring for creation, and advocating for a more just world for our most vulnerable siblings. They will join the masses of helpers that have already sacrificed so much in response to this pandemic. But to do that, we first need your help and generosity.

Thank you for considering a gift to DVUSA! And as always, may God Creator bless you, may God Redeemer heal you, and may God the Holy Spirit fill you with light!

With gratitude,
Megan Rupp
