Sisters Attend Window Blessing
On Nov. 4, several Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa attended a blessing ceremony for the new stained-glass windows at Messmer St. Rose School, Milwaukee. The school celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2022. Sinsinawa Sisters were the first teachers sent to St. Rose of Lima School to teach in 1893 and had a continuous presence there until 2002. The windows, created by artist John Van Koningsveld, feature Dominican Saints Martin de Porres and Rose of Lima; and Marianna, Rose’s family caregiver and lifelong companion. The event invitation read, “Messmer St. Rose exists to this day on the foundation of decades of dedicated service by the Sinsinawa Dominicans. Thank you, Sisters! Thank you, Venerable Father Mazzuchelli! And thanks be to God.”
