Juneteenth Celebration
Pat Rogers, OP (left), and Mary Howard Johnstone, OP (right), attended a Juneteenth celebration in Milwaukee where they met Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers (center). Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and marks the anniversary of the announcement on June 19, 1865, proclaiming freedom for enslaved people in Texas, which was the last Confederate community of enslaved people in the United States to be freed.
