Synod Team
Sinsinawa Synod Team Established
by Toni Harris, OP
Pope Francis has launched a two-year process intended to hear from the People of God about what is happening for them locally. His Synod on Synodality: Communion, Participation, and Mission “is intended to inspire people to dream about the Church we are called to be, to make people’s hopes flourish, to stimulate trust, to bind up wounds, to weave new and deeper relationships, to learn from one another, to build bridges, to enlighten minds, warm hearts, and restore strength to our hands for our common mission” (Synod Handbook).

This consultation process seeks to listen to the entire people of God, especially those on the peripheries. Some of you may have begun to participate in the synod process in your local diocese. Others may have heard little about it. We encourage Sisters and Associates to be involved and to contact your diocese about ways to participate locally.
Our Sinsinawa Congregation also will be offering responses directly to the Vatican office for the synod and to the International Union of Superiors General (UISG). To facilitate our involvement and response, we have established a Sinsinawa Synod 2021–2023 Team. Those serving on this team are Maggie Hopkins, OP; Maureen McDonnell, OP; and Sarah Naughton, OP. Please watch for communication from this team in the days ahead. We need your participation. Our experience journeying with one another and the wider human family, as well as our commitment to communion, participation, and mission, provide us with ample insights to bring to this synod process. Let’s move forward with affection and hope.
