Relationships for Mission
Recognizing 200 Years of
Dominican Women in the United States
The Dominican Sisters of Peace held an opening prayer service April 19 to recognize the first women who came to the United States as part of the Order of Preachers’ worldwide mission to preach and teach the Gospel. The Dominican Sisters of St. Catharine settled in Washington County, Kentucky, in February 1822. In the 200 years since, Dominican women throughout the United States have faithfully ministered to all by preaching the truth, proclaiming the joy of the Gospel, and following the example of our founder, St. Dominic.
