Dominicans of Sinsinawa Celebrate Profession

by Relationships for Mission Team

Patricia Rogers, OP, preachedOn Sunday, Aug. 7, the Congregation celebrated the first profession of vows of Siobhan Burroughs, OP. Siobhan’s mother from Trinidad and Tobago, friends, Sisters, and Associates gathered in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Mound to witness Siobhan’s profession of vows with the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa. The liturgy and music were beautiful and joyful. Prioress Toni Harris, OP, welcomed everyone as we continue to celebrate our 175 years as a Congregation and completed our annual Community Days. Patricia Rogers, OP, preached, and Father Jack Risley, OP, was the celebrant. The choir and cantors filled the chapel with glorious music beginning with the entrance procession to the Trinidadian song “Enter into Jerusalem,” then throughout the Mass we heard the handbells, harp, and Trinidad’s wonderful steel pan. Finally, Siobhan professed her first vows for “the mercy of God and yours.” The link to the profession liturgy can be found at sinsinawa.org/live.

Sister Priscilla Torres, OP, Julie Rambin, and Michelle Horton. That same day at first vespers of St. Dominic, Julie Rambin received a blessing as she begins her second year of candidacy with the Congregation. Please hold both in prayer as they live the Dominican essentials of prayer, study, community, and ministry.
