Are you excited about communicating to the public the mission and ministries of the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa through designing print materials, writing articles, creating and posting online and social media content, and maintaining the congregation website? If so, we have the position for you.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize, design, write, edit, take photos and/or videos for publications, print material, and digital content. Work closely with staff members to maintain brand consistency and meet deadlines.
  • Design and produce print magazines, newsletters, fund appeals, digital media posts, and other congregational materials as assigned.
  • Write, edit, and take and edit photos and/or video when appropriate for press releases, human interest and feature stories, obituaries, and other correspondence. Work with media for coverage when necessary.
  • Proofread all written content and correct errors in punctuation, grammar, spelling, etc.
  • Produce/edit videos and digital content to promote the Sinsinawa Dominican life and mission through online campaigns and social media platforms.
  • Prepare projects and products digitally for print as required to conform with printer specifications.
  • Update the congregation website and maintain its overall appearance in coordination with the Communication Director.
  • Initiate/lead projects to develop initiatives that advance the Sinsinawa mission and vision.
  • Collaborate with other congregation entities (i.e., Outreach, Sinsinawa Housing, etc.) to create and produce marketing materials.
  • Maintain an archival system of all photos and projects created by the office.
  • In coordination with the Communication Director, utilize search engine optimization and analytics data to determine online trends and develop strategies to expand digital presence.
  • Develop a keen understanding of the Sinsinawa Dominican mission, as well as of the history of the Congregation.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Communication Director.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • Excellent written and verbal expression and proofreading abilities.
  • Experience in photography, videography, and digital content creation with those files.
  • Sense of appropriateness, confidentiality, and discretion in communicating with and about Sisters.
  • Working knowledge and experience with digital devices and software (i.e., Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Suite, Canva, and WordPress applications, social media apps, Zoom and other videoconferencing software, etc.).
  • Display enthusiasm and confidence; proficient in organizational and time management abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communication, graphic design, or related field.
  • Two years’ experience preferred in a similar role.
