Exploring the Driftless and Beyond with Author Kevin Koch

Kick off Earth Week with a journey through 30 years of nature writing.

What began with a short essay titled “Skiing at Midnight” for his students sparked a decades-long career for local author Kevin Koch, encompassing four books, a long-running outdoors newspaper column and blog, and numerous other publications. In this presentation, Kevin will guide participants on a photo-illustrated journey through a sampling of his work.

Kevin Koch is is Professor Emeritus at Loras College, where he taught in the English Department for 42 years. He is also the author of:

  • Skiing at Midnight: A Nature Journal from Dubuque County, Iowa
  • The Driftless Land: Spirit of Place in the Upper Mississippi Valley
  • The Thin Places: A Celtic Landscape from Ireland to the Driftless
  • Midwest Bedrock: The Search for Nature’s Soul in America’s Heartland

This event is free and open to the public. Come early to mingle and enjoy Earth Week inspired refreshments.
