Whether you are picking up a pencil or a brush for the first time in decades or you have a studio full of finished works, Sister Isabel invites you to find your flow. This is a space dedicated to the unique perspective that comes with a life well-lived.

In this stage of life, art isn’t about competition—it’s about connection. We gather to explore the “beauty around the edges,” sharing techniques and stories in a supportive, low-pressure environment. This is a group for all levels of art experience, creating a warm environment of peer-to-peer learning.
What to Expect:
- All Levels Welcome: We believe “experience” is just another word for “practice.” No prior training is required—just a curious spirit.
- Diverse Mediums: Experiment with a variety of drawing painting and mixed media.
- The Gift of Solitude, Shared: Enjoy the quiet focus of the creative process alongside a community that understands the value of a morning spent on a creative project.
- Exhibition Opportunities: Possibly Periodic group showcases to share your vision with the wider community.
Meeting Details:
- When: Four consecutive Tuesdays from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
March 10, March 17, March 24, March 31 - Where: The Art Room, 4th Floor, Sinsinawa Mound Center, Sinsinawa, WI
- What to Bring: Just come as you are. if you already have your favorite supplies of watercolors or water soluble oil paints feel free to bring them. However, because of chemical sensitivities we cannot accommodate regular oil paints or solvents. Bring an open mind and leave a little more inspired.
Biography: Sister Isabel Rafferty, OP
Sister Isabel Rafferty is a Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa and the current Artist in Residence at Sinsinawa Mound, WI. With an academic background including a BS, MAAT, and MFA, Sister Isabel has spent her career exploring the intersection of creativity, healing, and education. Her diverse professional journey ranges from elementary education and clinical Art Therapy to her recent retirement from Edgewood College, where she taught Digital Art and Design to undergraduates. Though her teaching spanned the digital realm, her personal practice is anchored in the luminous depth of water-soluble oils. Her work moves fluidly between the intimate detail of portraiture and the expansive serenity of Lakescapes, reflecting a lifelong dedication to finding the extraordinary within the natural world and the human spirit.
