Sister Sigrid Simlik, OP, has ministered in Maryland, Wisconsin, Illinois, Texas, and Kansas. Her ministry has been dedicated to teaching and hospital chaplaincy. In Maryland, she taught at St. Rose of Lima, Baltimore, 1949-1953. In Wisconsin, Sr. Sigrid taught at St. Rose, Milwaukee, 1953-1958. In Illinois, she taught at Aquin Catholic High School, Freeport, 1958-1966; taught Russian at Rosary College (now Dominican University), River Forest, 1971-1980; and served as an education consultant for the Diocese of Rockford’s Office of Education, Rockford, 1980-1982. In Texas, Sr. Sigrid served as campus minister at Angelo State University, San Angelo, 1982-1984, and as chaplain at Seton Medical Center, 1987-1999, and Brackenridge Hospital, 1999-2002, both Austin. In Kansas, she ministered as chaplain at Mercy Hospital, Independence, 1985-1986. Sr. Sigrid is living in community with her Dominican Sisters in Footville, WI. Her home parish is St. Agnes of Bohemia, Chicago. She is the daughter of the late Paul Simlik and Catherine (Mikesha) Smolinski. Click here to send an honor online.
