Sister Clara Blozis, OP

Sister Clara Blozis, OP, has ministered in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and Iowa. Her religious name was Sister Mary Ona. Sr. Clara’s ministry has been dedicated to teaching and administration. In Wisconsin, she taught at Edgewood High, Madison, 1954-1956 and 1958-1961, and at St. Clara Academy, Sinsinawa, 1961-1966, where she also served as principal, 1965-1966. She served at Dominican High School, Whitefish Bay, as assistant principal, 1966-1968, and teacher, 1968-1971, and ministered as assistant director of admissions at Edgewood College, Madison, 1983-1984. In Minnesota, Sr. Clara taught at Bethlehem Academy, Faribault, 1956-1958. In Illinois, she ministered as a member of the administrative team and taught religion at Trinity, River Forest, 1971-1973, and served as director of the Guidance Department at St. Thomas the Apostle High School, Chicago, 1974-1980, and at Unity Catholic High School, Chicago, 1980-1983. Sr. Clara then ministered at Boylan Catholic High School, Rockford, as guidance counselor, 1984-2000, and as Guidance Department assistant, 2000-2007. In Iowa, she served as a nursing assistant at St. Dominic Villa, Dubuque, 1973-1974. Sr. Clara is living in community with her Dominican Sisters in Muskego, WI. Her home parish is St. James, Rockford, IL. She is the daughter of the late John and Anna (Steponaitis) Blozis. Click here to send an honor online.
